Following on from the launch and success of the PM Skills for Life programme last year and again with the support of the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation (PMIEF) JA Ireland have rolled out the PM Skills for Life initiative nationally during the 2016/17 school year.   500 transition year students from 15 schools across Limerick, Dublin, Clare, Cork, Galway and Waterford are taking part in the project which will run until May 2017.

Project Management Skills for Life is designed to support students to understand, plan, carry out, monitor and evaluate a project of their own.  Through experiential learning and a hands-on introduction to project management skills students will be better prepared for future success and will learn skills that will be beneficial to them in their future academic lives and careers.

“This is our first time taking part in the PM Skills for Life programme.  The students are learning new and valuable skills around project management and are also being challenged to plan and run their own class project.   I would like to thank Liv and Robert from Dell for taking the time to work with us and we very much look forward to welcoming them back to the event which is being planned by our students.”   Marie Keane – Teacher Salesian Secondary College , Pallaskenry

The initiative is designed across 4 modules:

  • Preparing for a Project
  • Planning a Project
  • Running a Project
  • Project Management Innovation Camp

Project Management volunteers from Dell Limerick, Dell Cherrywood, Dell EMC, SAP SSC Ireland Ltd, Oracle, Sanofi, Unum Ireland, Bausch & Lomb are kindly mentoring the students on project management and sharing their career paths as project managers.
