Otter Products Close their Business to Open their Hearts to the Local Community

WP 20180222 026 All Otter Products staff volunteered!JAI was delighted to partner with global technology leader Otter Products as they joined their US parent company for “Close2Open” where the business closes for the day and invites all their employees to give back to their local community. All 35 employees in the Otter Products Cork office gave their time and talents to deliver entrepreneurship workshops to 230 young students in 6 Cork City Schools, almost 300 volunteer hours in just one day. The Our Nation workshop for 9/10 year olds introduced students to business ownership and the skills necessary to identify and develop a business.

WP 20180222 017Introducing Entrepreneurship to studentsOtter Products, through their OtterCares philanthropic foundation, have a core mission to champion innovative education that inspires young people to go on to create lasting and impactful change in their communities.  The Our Nation workshop was a perfect fit for the OtterCares youth entrepreneurship education mission.

Participating schools in the Cork “Close2Open” initiative included Togher Boys School, St Marie’s of the Isle Primary School, St Columba’s Girls National School and Facility for Deaf Children, St Brendan’s National School, Scoil Mhuire Fatima and Glasheen Boys National School. 

On behalf of Otter Products, Barrie Collins, Managing Director, EMEA  said “We are delighted to support Cork schools by reinforcing the value of education and cultivating entrepreneurial thinking and skills among young students. We are privileged to support these early innovators as they begin their journey into entrepreneurship.”
