One of the core JA secondary programmes – Finance Your Future – has been developed and delivered with the generous support of MetLife Foundation. The programme explores earning potential, balancing personal budgets, future planning, risk and insurance.
To date, over 7,400 Irish students have benefited from Finance Your Future which is delivered in-class by business volunteers from a variety of our supporting organisations.
In addition to funding and supporting the Finance Your Future programme, we have had some wonderful MetLife Dublin volunteers deliver our programmes and run workshops on a local level since the beginning of our partnership in 2014.
This school year, MetLife hosted two Finance Your Future workshops on-site in Dublin, giving students the opportunity to experience a workplace environment, while learning valuable financial literacy skills from MetLife mentors.
Anthony Goudis, Vice President – EMEA Head of Financial Reporting & Analysis at MetLife, and his team hosted the first group of students from Marian college in February.
Students had the opportunity to work in a boardroom environment while learning about the career backgrounds of their volunteers and asking questions with regards to insurance, pensions and other important financial decisions.
The second Finance Your Future workshop was with Frank O’Callaghan, Audit Senior Manager – Actuarial (EMEA), whose team welcomed students from Cabinteely Community College.
This session started with a careers presentation from Jen McCarthy, Vice President, Internal Audit at MetLife.
Students then worked in teams, along with MetLife mentors, to work out budgeting decisions, learn about the impact of education on future decisions and put their communication and teamwork skills into practise.
MetLife generously ended both workshops with pizza and refreshments as each student was issued with individual recognition in the form of a certificate of achievement. Thank you to MetLife and MetLife Foundation for their continued support and inspiring young minds.
