Volunteer Katie Ward from Alcon Laboratories delivered the Smart Futures workshop to 5th year students in St Vincent’s Secondary School, Cork
Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) is delighted to welcome Alcon Laboratories Ireland Ltd, a division of the Norvatis group, as our latest new company partner in the Cork region. Alcon is a leading medical device manufacturer based on the Model Farm Road and has been operating in Cork City for over 25 years.
JAI works with both primary and second level schools in the Cork area and this new partnership with Alcon is great news for our Cork schools who are looking forward to meeting and working with Alcon staff as they deliver a range of in-classroom JA programmes.
The first nine Alcon business volunteers have already been recruited and placed into local schools. The volunteers are delivering programmes to students from Senior Infants to Leaving Cert and, as a science industry partner, many of the Alcon business volunteers are opting to deliver one of the many JA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) programmes.
We look forward to introducing many more Alcon volunteers to Cork students in the months to come.
