JA FINANCE PARK
A gamified personal financial literacy activity!
JA Finance Park is a key initiative of Junior Achievement Ireland. Its roll-out is supported by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) as part of a shared ambition to develop financial well-being across Ireland. The opportunity to have students participate in this impactful programme is particularly timely in light of the development of Ireland’s first National Financial Literacy Strategy.
JA Finance Park helps students build a foundation for making intelligent, lifelong personal financial decisions, including issues related to income, spending, saving, and credit. JA Finance Park culminates in an interactive online simulation where students are assigned a persona which they have to budget for, helping students put their knowledge to the test.
Developed to complement the Junior Cycle Business curriculum, this 5-unit programme comprises of:
- Career exploration
- Payslip and taxes
- Saving and borrowing
- Insurance and pensions
Suitable for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year classes.
- JA Finance Park addresses the lack of opportunities in financial education available to students in Ireland and aims to improve financial literacy rates among young people nationwide.
- The programme helps students build a foundation on which they can make intelligent financial decisions, including decisions related to income, expenses, savings, and credit.
- JA Finance Park will engage students, align with the formal curriculum in our schools and be fully relevant to ensure today's learners become tomorrow's informed consumers.
- From goal setting to saving, budgeting, shopping and bill paying, students will learn and experience what it really takes to successfully navigate today's complex economy and will come face-to-face with how decisions today can impact their future.
