Junior Achievement’s newest classroom based programme, Futurewize, is currently being rolled out in Cork. Futurewise encourages students to explore career possibilities that are opened up through the study of STEM related subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). It is jointly-sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland and industry partner Fidelity Investments.
The programme has been well received in a number of local schools including St. Aloysius Secondary School, Coláiste Daibhéid, St. Aloysius College and Nagle Community College. First years from Nagle Community College in Mahon recently completed the programme with volunteer Frank Hallissey from PM Group. Sandy O’Shaugnessy, Science teacher at the school, said “It was a great programme. It was brilliant to introduce Frank, one of our past pupils to my 1st year students. It was a really positive experience for the students.”
