‘Perfect Portions’ St. Mary’s Secondary School, New Ross, Co. Wexford.
We are Perfect Portions from St. Mary’s Secondary School, New Ross, Co. Wexford. Our mini-company was established in December 2014. The members of Perfect Portions are Emily Kehoe, Aoife Byrne, Sian Feeney, Genevieve Walsh and Niamh White. Our aim as a mini company is to promote a simple but effective tool in tackling the difficult challenge of childhood obesity in Ireland. We have designed a 7″ portable portion divider to help parents assess how much carbohydrates, fruit, vegetables and protein are being included in their children’s meals. This easy-to-use, durable portion divider includes four information leaflets and a food pyramid. We have also designed a 9″ for adults.
‘EZTrak’ from De La Salle College, Co Waterford.
EZ Trak is a company that was set up by two students in De La Salle College in Waterford, Fergal Lawrence and Zach Power. They commenced their business in October 2014. At first they aimed to make a device to track bikes, but after research felt that if they made a multi-purpose device their target market would be largely increased. They now have come up with a small, durable device that could be easily hidden in or attached to items of value such as a designer handbag, laptop bag or a bicycle. The unique feature is that the device does not use a SIM card and they believe there are very few other products like this available to the average consumer.
